I have rarely met a golfer who does not want to hit the ball further and straighter. Yes there are a few who are happy with distance but want more accuracy, but the reason for this post is to explain in simple terms how a bit of simple speed training can help consistency and accuracy too.....even if your speed doesn't improve. If speed training is done correctly it should be the 5TH PRIORITY.....Let me explain.
If you are going to embark on speed training you should consider these 3 priorities first:
1. Improve Mobility
2. Improve Stability
2. Improve Coordination
3. Improve Strength
A nice easy way to remember these 4 words is "MOST COST" (afterall new driver can be expensive!)
By focusing on this order of priority you are far more likely to avoid injury, imporve accuracy and consistency, and potentially hit the ball much further and straighter.....and who doesn't want that.
Here is a video of an example of a good MOBILITY warm up drill:
Here is a video of an example of a good STABILITY warm up drill (as it's very important to use the feet and the ground correctly:
In terms of improving COORDINATION many of the speed training tools that can be purchased through my site massively help with this while also improving strength. Here are some links to some youtube videos of me using these tools:
But ultaimely it's always adviasbale to do this type of training with expert guidance either face to face or remotely online. I have helped dozens of golfers of all levels improve their speed, distance and accuracy without having to change their swings a great deal. It's all done by improving the golfers MOVEMENT and POWER and most of all the concepts they have in their minds. If you want to know more do get in touch.....alexsaary@gmail.com
